Testing Glucose And Diabetes Control Go Hand In Hand
When my father got diagnosed with diabetes, he sat me down for a long talk so that I’d know exactly what was going on. He went over how to Controlling Diabetes, Testing Blood Sugar, and Testing Blood Sugar. He showed me Strips For Testing and how to use them for Testing Blood Sugar.
My father said he wanted me to be ready in case I ever got diabetes myself. Logically , I informed him, “ No, this is about you and how you control your diabetes. Not mine. I’m fine.”
My dad finally broke the horrible news. I am at a higher risk than other kids because my father has the disease. I know about diabetes so I told my dad that he has type1 diabetes and the only type of diabetes that goes from generation is type two and that skips one generation when it goes down the lineage of one’s family . Nevertheless, my father insisted I know all about diabetes control. Maybe someday I’d know someone with diabetes or be married to someone like that or have a child that’s diabetic. Finally, I relented. I presumed it wouldn’t be a bad thing to know about Monitoring blood sugar and everything that comes along with diabetes . Maybe if something happened my father might really need my help. So I broke down and told my father that I should learn right along with him .
My father nodded sagely and ensues to tell about his special diet, how he was eating better, wanting to exercise more, and keeping his sugar down. My dad never considered eating healthier or working out as a younger guy . He ate what he wanted and whenever he wanted and it all took a toll on him as he grew older.
He used to go to the health club a lot when he was younger, if only just to swim. Ultimately , as time wore on, he admitted he’d become sluggish and slothful and his visits to the health club grew fewer and fewer. Eventually he just stopped going, and began eating enough for two people .
Potato chips for a midnight snack? Why not?
A couple of Mountain Dews to help get through the day? Sure.
Two more scoops of ice cream than normal? And then another? Then what about that extra sweet cake that Aunt Carly brought over? A few pieces of that won’t hurt How could he say no?
No one was surprised when they heard that he had diabetes . What it simply came to was the fact that he hadn’t taken care of himself.
But that wasn’t the end of the lecture, no, sir.
He told me to watch him while he Testing Blood Sugar levels in his blood . He pricked his fingertip and dropped blood onto a Strips For Testing. He said Strips For Testing were a good brand, to be honest I had no clue that diabetes BD Testing Strips had brands . Then he put the strip into the monitor, which checked his blood sugar level off that sample.
It was all so easy . If I ever am diagnosed with diabetes I will know what to do and how to do it . In reality , I could do it for my father, which I did sometimes as a favor. After all, regardless of anything else, he was still my father.
